Dear tourist,

Thankyou very much for choosing us!

The Peruvian system of services and products sometimes differs from that in your home country. We strongly suggest you read the following carefully.

TRAVEL IN PERU:

Grand Travel operates in regions where standards of accommodation, transport and services might not be those you would normally expect. However we strive, with all due care and skill, to provide the best services for our tourists. Travelling in Peru requires flexibility, patience, broad-mindedness, good humor and understanding that changes may be made without notice due to circumstances beyond our control (Force Majeure). By booking any of our tours you agree that Grand Travel can make necessary changes without liability.

FORCE MAJEURE: This will happen in any event that Grand Travel could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. This covers events such as war or threat, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, disease, disaster or adverse weather conditions, fire or all similar events beyond our control. In this case, Grand Travel will not accept liability and reserves the right to change, postpone or even cancel the trip (this is the last option of course!)

TRAVEL INSURANCE: We strongly advise you to get travel insurance that covers accidents, medical expenses and emergency repatriation, including rescue and air ambulance. We also recommend that it covers cancellations and loss of luggage.

WE RECOMMEND:

RISKS: By booking any of our adventure trips (Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Salkantay, Choquekirau trek, Inca jungle, etc.) you assume the risks associated with them. For these, “Grand Travel” accepts no responsibility.

SENDING YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS FOR BOOKING: Your passport number must be valid. Please advise us if you have or will change your passport after booking the tour (Inca Trail authorities are not very nice when checking passports at the control at Km 82). ISIC card (if applicable) must also be valid at the time of the beginning of your Inca trail.

MAKING A RESERVATION (DEPOSIT):  WHY? All the money you send us covers reservations for your Machu Picchu ticket, Train tickets, etc. These conditionsare a policy of “Grand Travel” company to secure a reservation of a tour package. For this reason, it is necessary to make a payment of: 50% of TOTAL package cost.  The balance will be paid upon arrival in Cusco.

STUDENT RATE: in order to obtain this discount you must have a valid ISIC card. It is important you scan and e-mail this to us at the time of booking.

DEPOSIT CAN BE DONE THROUGH: All Transaction fees are covered by the client and are not included in our tours prices.

On the evening before your trek, there will be a pre-trek talk (briefing) in our office at either 6 or 7pm (exact time will be confirmed).

PAYMENT OF FINAL BALANCE: We require you to pay your final balance in our offices at least 48 hours before your trek leaves. Currently, WE ACCEPT CASH ONLY. We maintain the right to cancel your trek upon failure to make payment in this timeframe if you have not previously advised of a delayed arrival etc. (currently $1 USA = 2.90 soles - 2011).Final balance can be paid in cash.

CANCELLATIONS

(1) Deposit sent for booking is non-refundable or transferable.

(2) Grand Travel must be notified of any changes or cancellations to your trip as soon as you are aware of them.  This can be done either via e-mail or fax.

(3) Once final balance has been paid: We will not be able to refund your trek payment for cancellations. There will however be parts of your trip that you are able to use (Machu Picchu entrance fee, 1 train ticket, 1 bus ticket).

VERY IMPORTANT: We strongly suggest staying at high altitude (above 3000 meters - in Cusco or another high altitude city) for 3 to 4 days (minimum) before undertaking the trip. We suggest this in order for you to minimize the effects of possible altitude sickness. Also, you can help your body acclimatize by drinking plenty of liquids, adding a bit more sugar to your drinks, eating food high in carbohydrates, avoiding cigarettes and alcohol, and drinking coca (ancient traditional leaf) tea. Diamox can also be helpful. Please ask your doctor for prescription.

Thanks again for choosing us and have a wonderful trip!
