The 16th Chachapoyas-Raymillacta Tourism Week 2011, to be celebrated from June 6 to 12 in the Amazonas region, will include a gastronomic fair, photographic exhibitions, and a traditional costume parade. Tourism regional director Jaime Escobedo reported that this year’s tourism week “will be better than the previous ones and will have new things.” Under the slogan “If you know what you have, you value what you are,” the event –which expects to gather some 1,500 people– aims to promote tourism activity in the region. Among the activities scheduled is the opening ceremony at 13.30 hours on Monday, June 6 at Independencia small square, which will be attended by the governor of Amazonas, Jose Arista Arbildo. The 16th Chachapoyas-Raymillacta Tourism Week will also include an exhibition of local craftwork on Tuesday 7; a gastronomic fair on Wednesday 9; and the Nina Raymi festival on Thursday 10, where paintings and photographs of Chachapoyas’ nature are exhibited. On the following day, the chasquis race, in which a group of people will run covering the districts of Chachapoyas, Tingo and the fortress of Kuelap, is to be carried out. Finally on Sunday, the event will close with the raising of the national flag at the main square. Source: andina.pe |
