Gana Perú candidate Ollanta Humala came out on top in Peru's presidential vote Sunday, but fell short of the 50 percent needed to avoid a June runoff against either Keiko Fujimori or Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, media exit polls said. According to Ipsos Apoyo, Ollanta Humala obtained 31.6 percent of the votes, followed by Fuerza 2011 candidate Keiko Fujimori and Alianza por el Gran Cambio's Pedro Pablo Kuczynski with 21.4% and 19.2%, respectively. Perú Posible leader Alejandro Toledo received 16.1 percent while Solidaridad Nacional candidate Luis Castañeda earned 10.2 percent of the votes. Another pollster, CPI, indicated that Humala led the pack with 33 percent of the votes, followed by Keiko Fujimori with 22%, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski with 19%, Alejandro Toledo with 15.3% and Luis Castañeda with 9.5%. Finally, an exit poll conducted by Datum showed that Humala won 33.8% of the ballots, while Fujimori came second with 21.3% and Kuczynski third with 19.5%. Source: andina.pe |
