On the occasion of International Museum Day the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima offers free admission to 16 museums until the end of May, Lima Mayor Susana Villaran and the Culture Minister Juan Ossio said. Both authorities announced that this measure takes place in the framework of museum day celebrations, in order to create awareness and bring culture and population closer. In addition, some museums will lower their ticket prices to 1 sol and others will offer a pay-one-for-two promotion. Villaran went on to add that the attendees will be able to appreciate the restored museums which preserve the historical memory of the city and the country. The Mayor pointed out that free admission will be granted to visitors in different museums such as the Peruvian Gastronomy House, the Afro-Peruvian National Museum and the Museum of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, among others.
