More than 10,000 Peruvian and foreign tourists visited the six museums located in the northern Lambayeque region during Easter long weekend, the director of the Executive Unit No. 005: Naylamp-Lambayeque Celso Sialer estimated. He highlighted that these numbers represent a 40 percent increase over the same period in 2010 (7,339 tourists). Tourists were able to appreciate the cultural wealth of Lambayeque, as well as the treasures of the Lord of Sipan and the 13 tombs showcased in the Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum, which welcomed 4,500 visitors. Brüning National Archaeological Museum, which houses over 1,400 archaeological pieces of Lambayeque, Mochica, Chavin, Vicus and Inca cultures, received over 1,000 tourists during the holidays. The Sican National Museum, located in the province of Ferreñafe, welcomed nearly 1,000 visitors who admired the Lord of Sican’s gold, silver and copper objects. According to Sialer, 15 percent of the total visitors were foreign tourists who came mainly from United States, Germany, Colombia, France, Canada, Spain, England, Mexico, Argentina and Japan.
