OVER 140000 TOURISTS VISITED LAMBAYEQUE MUSEUMS IN JAN-JUN Chiclayo, Jul. 18. More than 140000 domestic and foreign tourists visited six museums in Lambayeque region over the first six months of 2010, representing a 7.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Tourists also come from India, Greece, South Africa, Israel, Denmark, Venezuela, Chile, Ecuador, among other countries. They were amazed by the cultural wealth of the northern region. Inbound tourism reached 83 percent with more than 117 domestic visitors from Lima, Cajamarca, LaLibertad, Arequipa, Amazonas, Ancash, ayacucho, Cusco, San Martin, Iquitos and Puno, among other cities. The most visited museum was the Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum with more than 65000 visitors, followed by the Tucume Museum with 21000 people. Fount: andina.pe |

According to Celso Sialer Tavara, executive director of Executing Unit Nº 111: Naylamp-Lambayeque, foreign visits reached 17 percent, that is, some 23000 visitors coming from the United States, China, Germany, Spain, England, Holland, Panama, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.
