Lima, Sep. 08. Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Martin Perez reported Tuesday that new routes of access to Machu Picchu will be created so that tourism sector can flourish without causing harm to the Inca citadel. “It’s important to create two or three new routes for the entrance and exit of Machu Picchu, in order to have a sustainable management of tourism in one of the new seven wonders of the world,” stated Perez.
He explained that some tourists explore Machu Picchu in one hour, while others even go up to Huayna Picchu, which takes more than three hours. The development of these alternate routes will represent a step forward in the preservation of monuments, as it is available in many places around world. In addition, the minister considered feasible that the archaeological complex receives 2,500 tourists every day of the year without causing any trouble. Source: andina.pe
