Lima, Oct. 26. Peru's exports to Chile will total US$1.5 billion this year similar to those reached in 2008, before the global financial crisis, reported Peru's Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Eduardo Ferreyros. Chile is Peru’s main trading partner in the region and, although the trade exchange has been growing over the time, it experienced major problems in the crisis year of 2009," he said. According to Ferreyros, Peruvian exports to Chile totaled US$820 million between January and August this year.
"We would like Peruvian exports to stand at US$1.5 billion and that Chilean shipments to total about US$1.2 billion," he stated. He pointed out that the trade balance between the two countries will show a nearly US$300 million surplus in favor of Peru. Source: andina.pe
