Lima, Oct. 03. Peruvian Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde is due to begin a tour of Arab countries on Sunday which will see him in five different states in order to secure the attendance of leaders at the Third Summit of South American-Arab Countries (ASPA) taking place February 2011 in Lima. According to the respective resolution published on Saturday in El Peruano official gazette, the Peruvian chancellor will visit Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Libya, and hold meetings with heads of State, foreign ministers and cultural representatives.
Justice Minister Rosario Fernandez will take over the ministerial office in the absence of Garcia Belaunde. On February 16, 2011, Peru will host the Third Summit of South American-Arab Countries (ASPA), which will bring together representatives of 34 countries across two regions, as well as the Third ASPA Business Forum. The Foreign minister's tour, to last until October 11, will serve to "reaffirm the great interest of Peru in securing representatives' attendance at an event that will put the image and culture of Peru in the world scene," the resolution states.
