PERU'S NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION GREW BY 49.62% IN JAN-JUL 2010 Lima, Aug. 09. Peru's natural gas production between January and July 2010 totaled 101.27 million cubic feet, a 49.62 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Peru's state hydrocarbons promotion agency Perupetro announced Sunday. Perupetro pointed out that production has increased to meet the growing demand of the electric sector and supply gas to the LNG plant, owned by the Peru LNG consortium. The average natural gas production in July was 777,138.32 cubic feet a day, up 13.61 percent from the previous month.
Perupetro said Sunday that the growth was mainly due to increased production from Pluspetrol Peru Corporation's Block 88, the main block in the Camisea natural gas field. In July, Pluspetrol produced 396,239.10 cubic feet a day from Block 88 while its Block 56 produced 318,916.04 cubic feet a day. Followed by Aguaytía Energy that produced 30,221.90 cubic feet a day in the month from its Block 31-C. Savia Perú produced 11,467.77 cubic feet a day in Block Z-2B during the month, Perupetro said.
