Peruvian President Alan Garcia will meet Thursday with visiting Chilean President Sebastián Piñera at the Government Palace in Lima. The Chilean leader arrived in the Peruvian capital early Thursday for a one-day state visit, which includes meetings with political and business leaders. In his first official act at 10.00 (15.00 GMT), Piñera will place a floral offering at the Monument to the National Heroes and the Forerunners of Independence in the district of Jesus Maria. Half an hour later, he will meet with Peruvian President Alan Garcia at the Government Palace in downtown Lima. The two leaders will also chair an extended meeting of Peru-Chile Business Council and then sign bilateral agreements at 11.00 local time. Piñera is scheduled to visit the Peruvian Congress at 15.30 to meet with Parliament President Cesar Zumaeta, who will award him the Medal of Honor in the Grade of Grand Cross during a special ceremony.
