Lima, Aug. 28. Peruvian President Alan Garcia will visit Panama to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on November 26, Panamanian head of State Ricardo Martinelli said.
After meeting Prime Minster Javier Velasquez Quesquen at the Presidency of Council of Ministers, Martinelli expressed his confidence that negotiations will lead to a trade agreement between the two nations.
“We have set a tentative date for the signing of Panama-Peru FTA (…) which is November 26th, and I think both Foreign Ministries will have the full text by that date.”
Once the trade agreement is signed by the two presidents, the text will be sent to the Congress of each country for its corresponding ratification. In addition, Panama’s leader supported Garcia’s disarmament initiative and pointed out countries should spend resources on social causes instead of buying weapons. Source: andina.pe
