PERU’S GARCIA ATTENDS COLOMBIAN INAUGURATION
The president is accompanied by Peru’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde. The Peruvian head of state arrived at the Catam military airport in Bogota, where he was received by the Colombian Foreign Ministry's Director of America Miguel Camilo Ruiz, and Peru's ambassador to Colombia Jorge Voto Bernales.
Immediately after his arrival Friday evening, Mr. Garcia attended a dinner hosted by the outgoing President Alvaro Uribe in honor of the Heads of State and Government participating in the presidential inauguration. The dinner was held at the Presidential Palace, headquarters of the Colombian government. The inauguration ceremony will take place at Bolivar Plaza square in Bogota. According to Colombia Reports, Inauguration day will begin in the Sierra Nevada mountain range close to Santa Marta in northern Colombia, where the president-elect will take part in an indigenous rite. El Tiempo estimates that 3,000 people will attend the ceremony, along with seventeen heads of state and heads of government, representatives of another 50 governments, and the prince of Asturias, Felipe de Borbon. Lima, Aug. 07. Peruvian President Alan Garcia Perez will attend Colombia's President-Elect Juan Manuel Santos inauguration ceremony scheduled for today in Bogota. Event brings together about 17 heads of state and 70 delegations from various countries.
