Lambayeque, Aug. 14. Peruvian President Alan Garcia Perez on Friday morning visited the northern Lambayeque region to inaugurate a series of electrification and potable water projects. These projects required an investment of 31’193,021 soles and will benefit 268,651 people in Lambayeque. On his 197th trip to a Peruvian region, the Head of State was accompanied by Prime Minister Javier Velasquez and Energy and Mines Minister Pedro Sanchez.
In the Montealegre sector of Picsi district, President Garcia inaugurated an electrification project benefiting 10,102 people of 16 towns in Chiclayo, Lambayeque and Ferreñafe provinces. The investment in San Jose Obrero, Solís Barragán, La Huaca, El Pescador, San Judas Tadeo, and other areas, totals 4’760,000 soles, funded entirely by ELECTRONORTE SA. Simultaneously, the Head of State inaugurated a 60/10 kV power transformer at Northern Chiclayo's Substation (SECHNOR), which required an investment of 6’664,850 soles. The project will provide electricity to the central areas of Chiclayo for the benefit of 57,260 households or 240,492 people. A project supplying electricity to 32 towns in Chiclayo, Ferreñafe, and San Miguel was also launched today by President Garcia. It will benefit 6,324 people or 1295 households in the area. The project required an investment of 4’ 896,000 soles funded by the Ministry of Energy and Mines and ELECTRONORTE SA The project covers the towns of Sorronto Alto, Macuaco, Montecruz, Los Azabachez, Sector Tinajones, El Gallito, Los Cisneros, Casa de Madera, Cholocal, Huaca de Piedra, among others. Afterwards, President Garcia headed for Lambayeque’s Jayanca district to inaugurate comprehensive improvement and expansion works of the water and sewerage system. The project required an investment of 11’203,754 soles for the benefit of 8,036 people. The Head of State also inaugurated improvement and expansion of potable water and sewerage system in the towns of Cria and Pampa La Victoria, in Patapo district. The total investment was 6’224, 227 soles. Finally, the Peruvian leader inaugurated the expanded water and sanitation system of the Luya town in Tumán district.
